Katarina Tomasevski

1953-2006

Katarina Tomasevski died on 4 October 2006. It was Katarina's wish that this site will serve as her virtual memorial - providing inspiration and assistance to individuals and organisations who care about human rights and education.

We thank Ravi Nair and Mark Gibney for their telltale obituaries. Also there is a kind letter of condolence from Amnesty International, and an article from the journal COMPARE.

Sofia Gruskin and Angela Melchiorre worked with Katarina for years. As you can see, they were also very close friends. Katarina’s Copenhagen friend, Kirsten Madsen, sends her love and Rhoda sends a poem with a picture.

Hashil remembers Katarina.

New! Best photos of Katarina.

Of her many journeys, the very last took Katarina to San Sebastian-Donostia, September 6-8, where she gave the keynote address. In her notes it says ”the people were wonderful”. Louis M. Naya Garmendia has sent a video from the conference. The pdf is her conference paper in Spanish.

Katarina was buried at sea on October 28. Afterwards a number of friends dined at Restaurant Dubrovnik and remembered the good times we had.
